Join AMPP!

​

Would you like to help ensure that all Pittsburgh pet owners have the resources to find quality pet care professionals?  Do you feel strongly that Pittsburgh pet professionals should adhere to a code of ethics that includes following the Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive philosophy?  Do you want to help promote these things within our community and improve the state of the pet care professions in Pittsburgh?  Then, you might want to become a member of AMPP! We have three levels of membership from professional memberships to supporting members to give all supporters an avenue to contribute and advance our mission!

We are a 501c6 (pending) organization and all money goes to funding our programs, materials, and projects to further our mission!

AMPP Certified Professional    $100 yearly 

Open to ALL pet professionals who hold a certification in their field

 

Benefits

  • Your business or name, logo (or photograph), and contact info has preferential listing on our website referral list

  • Ability to list AMPPP membership on your website and information (including badge/logo)

  • Access to 1 FREE AMPP seminar/workshop a year that includes CEUs (CCPDT)

  • Discounts at select local seminars and access to group order for discounts to other seminars

  • Through AMPPP, your business will be represented at large events like the Pet Expo

  • You will have preferential access to TV/Radio/Event opportunities to be a representative of AMPP

  • First choice as a blogger for AMPP (Link back to your website or promote something special)

  • Offered unique opportunities like providing demos or speaking at events and vet presentations

  • Access to our AMPPP lending Library

  • Access to our private AMPP Facebook group for socializing, bouncing ideas of other professionals, referral searches, and more

  • Professional support through our community

Member Pre-requisites

  • *Member holds an independent certification in their field (IAABC, CCPDT, NDGAA, veterinary license, etc)

    OR

     

  • *Member holds a program/school certification (KPA, VSA, ABC, Dog Tec Dog Walking, NAPPS, etc) AND submits a written document. Trainers/Behavior professionals must submit either a case study (for behavior listing) or class curriculum/training plan (for trainer listing). Groomers, dog walkers, pet sitters, vet techs, and other pet professionals must submit a 1 page minimum professional statement--tell us about yourself, tell us about your experience in your field,  and tell us how you utilize positive training, low stress handling, or fear free techniques in your practice.

 

Membership Requirements

  • ALL trainers/behavior professionals must submit a case study (for behavior listing) or training plan or class curriculum (for trainer listing). This is separate from the member pre-requisite for those who hold certifications through schools/programs

  • Complete at least 2 AMPP volunteer opportunities per year

  • Attend 2 AMPP meetings in person per year (we hold 6 meetings per year, on the first Sunday of the month in the evening)

  • Sign and abide by the AMPP Code of Conduct

AMPP Professional    $50 yearly 

Open to ALL professionals in a pet care field

  • Discounted AMPPP seminars/workshops with CCPDT CEUs

  • Discounts at select local seminars and access to group order for discounts to other seminars

Member Pre-requisites (must meet all of the below)

  • Member can show at least 2 years in a lead/solo professional position and a total of at least 3 years of hands on experience in the animal field (as a professional, assisting in their field, apprenticing in their field, or hands on volunteer work)
     

  • Members can show a commitment to continuing education by listing DVDs, seminars, books, webinars, or classes they've attended in the last 3 years
     

  • Member will submit a case study/training plan/class curriculum (for trainer/behavior professionals) or a 1 page minimum professional statement that tells us about yourself, your experience in your field, and how you utilize positive training, low stress handling, or fear free techniques in your professional practice.​

Requirements​​

AMPP Supporter   $25 yearly 

Open to ALL people (including pet owners), who believe in our mission of improving the pet care professions by promoting LIMA and low-stress handling.

  • No required volunteer or meeting commitments but all are welcome to volunteer and attend!
